Chris Abts - Owner/Instructor

First, thank you for visiting the website—I’m glad you’re here.

I’ve been instructing self-defense and firearms classes since 2015, but my experience with firearms began much earlier. I first starting shooting firearms around the age of nine, and today I bring over 30 years of firearms experience into every class I teach.

I was in high school during the 9/11 attacks, and after graduating, I enlisted in the Wisconsin National Guard. In 2004, I was activated and deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Unfortunately, a service-related injury affecting both knees ultimately ended my military career.

Over the past decade, I’ve had the privilege of working with people from all walks of life, sharing practical knowledge and real-world experience in firearms and self-defense. In the early days of the business, teaching pistol courses also helped me grow personally—public speaking didn’t come naturally to me, and instructing allowed me to build confidence while talking about something I truly care about with like-minded people.

I currently live in Rochester, Minnesota, where I work full-time as an Analysis Supervisor. Outside of work, I enjoy music, traveling, and proudly being a “dance dad” to my daughter. I’m a lifetime member of the VFW and a recently retired board director for the Rochester Dance Company.

If you’ve made it this far, thank you for your time—I look forward to connecting with you.
